Greater use of timber construction mass timber (eg CLT, GLT) and timber frame is a significant opportunity for Ireland. It presents several advantages over traditional concrete construction and has an important role to play in achieving Ireland's national carbon reduction goals.

On Thurs. 2nd March at 8 am, ULI is hosting a roundtable breakfast meeting on timber construction in Making it Work, Riverside Two, 43-49 Sir John Rogerson's Quay, D02 KV60.

The session will consider the opportunities and challenges of mass timber and timber frame construction for all sectors, including housing, offices, industrial, and logistics.

It will bring together experts on timber construction and urban development stakeholders to discuss the issues impacting the sector, including supply, design, construction, and regulations (e.g., fire, loads, etc.).

    Confirmed participants include:

    • Senator Pippa Hackett, Minister of State at the Dept. of Agriculture, Food and the Marine
    • Dr. Pablo van der Lugt, Ambassador Biobased Building - AMS Institute, TU Delft
    • Claire Pomroy, Director Development, Hines and IGBC #BuildingLife Ambassador
    • Declan Kelly, Development Project Manager, IPUT
    • John Casey, Director, CORA Consulting Engineers

The session will be chaired by Marie Hunt, Head of Research, IPUT.

This is an excellent opportunity to hear from experts and discuss the opportunities and challenges of timber frame construction.
