    Marc Sampietro

    Director of Living Operations Spain & Italy at Hines,

    Marc Sampietro – Head of European Living Operatons Marc joined Hines as Living Operatons Director for Spain and Italy in September 2020. He brings experience from the hotel sector with several companies including AC Hotels by Marriot managing openings in Spain, Italy and Portugal. In his last years at AC Hotels, Marc performed his dutes for 4 years as Country General Manager Italy and contributed to the implementaton of the joint venture with the Marriot group for the 12 hotels in the Italian market. Marc worked also in NH Hotels group as Regional Operatons Director of Southern Europe at The Student Hotel, leading the projects in Italy, Spain, France and Portugal, expanding the brand and coordinatng the group’s headquarters in Barcelona for Southern Europe. Since January 2023, Marc has been appointment Head of European Living Operatons at Hines.

    Patricia Viel

    Partner and Founder of ACPV, Antonio Citterio Patricia Viel Architects

    Patricia Viel is a French architect. Graduated in architecture from Politecnico di Milano in 1987, she started her collaboration with Antonio Citterio in 1986. In 2000, she joined “Antonio Citterio and Partners” interior design and architecture practice with architect Antonio Citterio – heading architecture design, with a focus on the integration of architecture within the urban landscape. As CEO, Patricia Viel has overseen architecture and interior design projects, while being actively involved in the management of the company – now named “ACPV ARCHITECTS Antonio Citterio Patricia Viel”. The practice operates internationally, developing complex projects, ranging from all scales of intervention, in synergy with a qualified network of specialist consultants. From 2005 to 2012, Patricia Viel was a member of the Board of Advisors of the Istituto Nazionale di Architettura InArch, in Milan. In addition to her work at the firm, she takes part in international panels and conferences as a speaker.

    Anna di Gironimo

    Co-Head of Development Italy, Covivio

    In the Company since 2008, Anna di Gironimo is Co-Head of Development Italy of Covivio, a leading European real estate player. She deals with the management of real estate development from the design phases to the final realization of the projects, operating in compliance with the directives received, the approved plans and strategies, and the corporate policies and procedures of the technical sector. Anna oversaw the most important real estate development operations in Milan in the last decades: the iconic Garibaldi Towers (completed in 2013), the Symbiosis (130,000sqm at south of Porta Romana) and The Sign (40,000 sqm at southwest of Milan) projects, the last two still under construction. She is also in charge of other main regeneration projects such as the dismissed railway yard of Porta Romana, an intervention on a par with the best urban projects in Europe, in terms of quality, size and purpose, and Vitae (the Reinventing Cities’s competition winner, a prestigious international tender for urban and environmental regeneration promoted by C40), an urban showcase project in terms of sustainability and innovation in order to face the climate challenges. Moreover, she is in charge of partnerships with universities and research institutions, public administrations, individual and collective stakeholders (customers, suppliers, other companies, professional communities, research centers). These partnerships are functional to the introduction and development of sustainability aspects and innovation in the Company. Previously Anna di Gironimo held various positions including Project and Construction Manager, from 2005 to 2007 at Norman '95 spa, a company managing real estate assets on behalf of third parties. In the early years of her career she worked as a Design Engineer and Project Manager at the Engineering Office of Professor Mario Catania (Politecnico di Milano and “Scuola Fratelli Pesenti” Associate Professor) located in Milan. Anna has a degree in Structural Building Engineering from the Politecnico di Milano, where she obtained her qualification as an engineer.

    Luca Mangia

    Director of Porta Romana, COIMA SGR S.p.A.

    Graduated in Construction Engineering from the Polytechnic of Milan, Luca has just assumed the role of General Manager of COIMA REM, after having covered for 8 years the position of Director in the Fund & Asset Management of COIMA SGR, a company for which he worked for 16 years. He previously gained 8 years of experience in Jacobs Italia, a leading international engineering company. In the real estate sector for more than 20 years, he has managed funds and assets worth more than EUR 2 billion, negotiated leases for more than 100,000 sqm of space for tertiary, commercial and residential use and loans for more than 1 billion. In recent years he has served as Director of the COIMA ESG City Impact Fund, the largest discretionary fund set up in Italy with a target fund size of EUR 1 billion, and Fondo Porta Romana, which owns the eponymous yard involved in an urban redevelopment project that will host the future Olympic Village for the Milan-Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics and over 1,000 flats between free and subsidized.

    Gabriele Pascolini

    Senior Associate Principal, Europe Practice Director, Skidmore, Owings & Merrill

    Gabriele Pascolini is a Project Manager with over 20 years of experience in all project phases—from programming and planning through design and construction. His significant in-depth knowledge of building safety and security measures, as well as building code analysis, is an asset on all complex, high-occupancy projects. Gabriele’s excellent communication and interpersonal skills—combined with his construction management, cost estimation analysis and value engineering experience—make him a highly effective team leader whose thoughtful decision-making approach is highly regarded by his peers.

    Stefano Pagliani

    Living Business Unit, Hines Italy

    Stefano Pagliani joined Hines Italy in June 2017 and is currently Director in the Living division. He is responsible for the launch of the student housing division in Italy (with aparto Milan Giovenale and aparto Milan Ripamonti as well as further developments in Milan and Florence), a residential complex in Florence and is now leading the Ex Trotto development in Milan. Stefano holds a BSc in Finance from Bocconi University and an MSc in Finance from Stockholm School of Economics.

    Dan Ringelstein

    Director - Master Planning and Urban Design - Cities, Planning and Design, Arup

    Dan Ringelstein, Director Cities, Planning & Design | Master Planning & Urban Design Arup A Commitment to Cities Cities are the places where the strongest forces for change are at work and where there is the greatest need to address issues of growth, liveability and climate change. The physical environment can be designed, and economic and political forces can be influenced by the design process. As a result, design plays an essential role in the public interest to stimulate, guide and influence debate as well as public and private investment at all urban scales, from street to neighbourhood to city. Dan brings a unique perspective to his many accomplishments in urban environments around the world. As an architect, urban designer and city planner, he is interested in the physical characteristics of a place and how planning, urban design, urban infrastructure, landscape design and architecture can create a positive public environment. This is evident in the strong role he has played in realising complex projects of significant magnitude through collaborative planning, design and delivery across 30+ Years. Prior to joining Arup in 2022, Dan was the leader of the City Design Practice at Skidmore, Owings & Merrill (SOM) based in London. There, Dan directed projects which focussed on the urban transformation of our cities. He had also guided the urban strategy of many architectural projects delivered by the London office of SOM. Dan has extensive experience working across differing cultures and contexts throughout the world. Collaborating closely within a multi-disciplinary team, he is able to guide the development of city designs with public and private sector clients and specialist experts. His urban design and planning skills include a strong ability to work in concert with regional authorities, city officials, public and private institutions, developers, specialist consultants and individual communities to deliver long-term visions as well as short term ‘wins’. Dan has been a long-standing member of the Urban Land Institute (ULI) over the length of his career, joining first as a member in the US, and then in the UK and Europe. Since 2019, Dan has been the Co-chair of the European Urban Regeneration Council at ULI, and in 2023, Dan joined the ULI Awards for Excellence program as a juror.

    Carlo Castelli

    Founder, Urban Purpose

    Architect, Masterplanner, City Solutions Expert. Founder of Urban Purpose. Summary Biography Carlo has recently founded Urban Purpose, a vehicle for strategic consultancy and collaboration across the built environment towards innovation and solutions for the most pressing global urban challenges. He is passionate in promoting what he defined as ‘Purpose Case approach’, based on the idea of creating real outcomes in terms of quality of life and well-being, through a true integration of economic, social, environmental and cultural values as well as adopting them in measurable ways in viability equations, redefining the way we structure and appraise projects and programmes. Carlo’s career spans nearly 25 years, between his design and architectural experience and his recent focus in the last 12 years on urban and regional projects between Jacobs and AECOM. Most recently, as Head of Cities Solutions Europe at Jacobs, he led teams on major inter-disciplinary urban projects internationally and at various scales, with issues and approaches often related to economic development, transport?oriented development and with a specific expertise on airport city development. Recent projects include the Meridian Water urban regeneration project in London, the City Centre Transformation Plan for Edinburgh in Scotland, the ‘Bolder Vision for Belfast project and the extension of Crossrail to Ebbsfleet. Other projects include the Scali Ferroviari project in Milan, technical and strategic advisory to the National Railway Company FS Sistemi Urbani on the development agreement for rail sites in Milan, the winning submission by Lendlease for theredevelopment of the Milan Expo area into a Science and Technology Park and a Concept Masterplan for KKIA Airport. He capitalises on his practical experience to actively promotes innovation and ideas in the urban debate through active participation at international conferences and symposiums and new relationships with clients and

    Jacopo della Fontana

    co-Founder & CEO, D2U - Design to Users

    Jacopo della Fontana, holds an MBA in Architecture (Polytechnic of Milan). Setting off from the native education and background of classical architecture he gained working experience in London, Frankfurt and Osaka, before coming back to Italy. He is founder and chairman of the Milan based architectural and consultancy practice D2U - Design to Users, active in the office, retail, mixed-use and leisure sectors. Jacopo has led D2U teams in the design of diverse projects typologies and market sectors, from interiors to architecture, always aiming to develops creative solutions, compatible with the objectives, the financial restrictions and the practices of professional Clients. In addition to practicing, he is regularly contributing to architectural magazines and he is lecturer at Milan Polytechnic University. Besides Italian, he his fluent in English and French and has a good knowledge of German and Spanish. He joined ULI in 2004. He is member of ULI Content Advisory Group, of the ULI Urban Regeneration Council and of the ULI Italian National Council Executive Committee
