    Many European property markets are under pressure. The high levels of inflation are forcing central banks to hike rates at a speed not seen for some generations. This is increasing borrowing costs and making deal volumes decline substantially, in turn making valuations much less transparent. As a result, many market participants are expecting a significant decline in values.

    However, the cyclical nature of real estate markets also creates opportunities. Well-informed and disciplined investors can outperform if risks are managed appropriately through challenging points of the cycle.

    Join this panel session and Q&A to learn from industry professionals who have been through many market cycles before. They will share their views on investment strategy and also career advice based on their diverse experience.

    Douglas Crawshaw

    Global Head of Real Estate Manager Research, Towers Watson

    Douglas is a Director at WTW with over 27 years of direct and indirect real estate / real assets investment experience. He is global head of the real estate manager research team and is also a member of the infrastructure, renewables and natural resources teams. Douglas is chair of the Secure Income Assets strategy group and member of the UK and European Secure Income Fund's investment committees. Douglas is dedicated to providing real asset research, selection and strategic advice to clients as well as monitoring of real estate programmes. Douglas joined WTW in 2007 from Aviva Investors, where he was a Fund Manager. Prior to Aviva Investors, Douglas worked for King Sturge. He is experienced in real estate direct and indirect investment, development, asset management and property management. Douglas leads the WTW Real Assets ESG team and is a past member of the INREV ESG Committee and is a keen advocate of better inclusion and cognitive diversity in the investment profession leading to better investment outcomes for the end saver. Douglas is a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.
