Five internationally renowned real estate industry leaders have been added to the Urban Land Institute’s (ULI) Global Board of Directors, and 28 additional industry luminaries have been added to the roster of ULI’s Global Governing Trustees.
The Global Board of Directors, which is the global governing body of the Institute, provides strategic direction for ULI in conjunction with the executive committees of each of the regions in which ULI has a presence: the Americas, Europe, and Asia Pacific. Over the last few years and in working with ULI’s regional leadership, the Global Board has guided the development and implementation of ULI’s mission priorities: decarbonizing the built environment and achieving net zero, increasing housing attainability for all, and educating the next generation of diverse leaders in the real estate industry. ULI remains dedicated to channeling its resources and energies into tackling these important and pressing challenges to help achieve its mission and maximize member engagement and member impact worldwide.
The new Global Board members are Daryl J. Carter, chairman and CEO, Avanath Capital Management, Irvine, CA; Franz Colloredo-Mansfeld, CEO and chairman of the board, Cabot Properties, Boston, MA; Clare De Briere, executive vice president and regional manager, Skanska USA Commercial Development, Los Angeles, CA; Hala El Akl, senior director for ESG and operations, Oxford Properties Group, London, U.K.; and Lars Huber, CEO, European region, Hines Europe Ltd, London, U.K.
“As ULI continues to shape its global strategic plan, we look forward to working with these new board members on a wide range of crucial issues. Their expertise will prove invaluable in helping our members create lasting, positive change in communities worldwide,” said Ed Walter, ULI Global CEO.
Both the Global Board members and Global Governing Trustees are serving terms that began July 1. The newly elected and re-elected Global Governing Trustees reflect the global composition of ULI’s membership, with representatives from the Americas, Europe, and Asia Pacific. They were nominated by the Global Board of Directors and subsequently elected by the Institute’s full members. Each candidate’s ULI activity and participation, in addition to industry leadership, were among the criteria considered for the nominations.
