London, 2 August 2024. Theodora Beckett, Head of London at RealWorth, has been appointed the new Chair of the ULI UK Young Leaders Group, which represents members of 35 years old and under.
An active ULI member since 2019, Beckett officially commenced a two-year term as Young Leaders Chair in July 2024 and will serve on a voluntary basis. She succeeds Imogen Thompson, who recently joined ULI UK as the National Council’s Executive Director.
“I am delighted to assume the role of Chair for the UK Young Leaders”, said Beckett. “As a group, we are committed to fostering innovative, interdisciplinary thought that builds knowledge, expands networks, and champions diversity and inclusion within the built environment. I plan to build on the excellent work of my predecessor Imogen Thompson in providing a platform that nurtures inspiring ideas and builds genuine connections among young professionals.”
Beckett vision for the ULI UK Young Leaders Group is as a unique forum where tomorrow’s industry leaders can engage with the leaders of today, connecting local expertise with global knowledge across the entire spectrum of real estate disciplines.
With a focus on creating a more connected, collaborative, and rewarding environment, her priorities include a commitment to fostering genuine cross-industry collaboration and facilitating opportunities to enable young professionals to form meaningful connections with their peers and senior industry leaders. In addition, Beckett aims to champion diversity and inclusion, promoting inclusive innovation to ensure a more accessible and equitable industry for all
Under Beckett’s leadership, the ULI UK Young Leaders Committee will also continue to build on its existing programme of events and initiatives, pushing boundaries and exploring new and innovative themes. The objective is to increase engagement from young leaders across the industry – and the UK – by driving a compelling and dynamic programme.
Mark Collins, Chair, ULI UK National Council and Executive Director and Chairman of Residential at CBRE, comments, “Theodora’s energy, enthusiasm and commitment to innovation, connectivity and diversity puts her in great stead to be a fantastic trailblazer and ambassador for Young Leaders. This group is extremely important to ULI in its focus on nurturing our next generation of entrepreneurial talent, providing a valuable platform to connect, discuss, and network, and encouraging innovative thinking in response to some of our industry’s biggest challenges. I am looking forward to working with her as she steers our Young Leaders Group and works to build upon its great success.”
Imogen Thompson, ULI UK Executive Director, comments, “I am delighted that Theodora has taken on the Young Leader Chair role for ULI UK. Theodora has been a highly active member of the National Council for multiple years, previously holding positions including the Young Leaders Vice Chair and Residential Product Council member. I look forward to seeing her now step into leadership to deliver impactful and innovative programming for the emerging talent of our industry here in the UK.”
At RealWorth, which enables organisations to identify, optimise, measure and communicate the social value of buildings, places and programmes, Beckett leads on projects across London and the south-east. She advises on community wealth building and placemaking strategy, as well as the optimising, delivering and measuring of social impact.
During her career she has worked closely with public and private sector clients across the UK, with a specific focus on strategic positioning, inclusive regeneration and masterplanning. Additionally, she is on the board of a London based charity supporting those with disabilities into careers in the creative industries. She has a master’s degree in Sustainable Urban Development from King’s College London.
