Learn more about industry leader opinions, canvassed for the annual Emerging Trends in Real Estate®: Global Outlook report.
We are deeply saddened by the humanitarian crisis that is unfolding in Ukraine and condemn the Russian invasion of an independent country.
ULI is an apolitical organization with a mission to shape the future of the built environment for transformative impact in communities worldwide. While ULI has no employees in Russia, for many years we have had a small chapter of members who have been sharing knowledge and best practices to deliver on ULI’s mission. However, following the invasion of Ukraine, we do not believe that mission can be effectively implemented in Russia at the current time. Therefore, we have suspended all activities and business in Russia.
Our thoughts are with the people of Ukraine, including the three million individuals and families that have traveled to nearby European countries in search of safety. Many of our members across Europe are actively working with relief organizations to provide housing and food for these refugees. These efforts have included the creative uses of non-residential spaces to provide short-term accommodation.
We recognize that many of our members are seeking ways to add their contributions to the effort to assist refugees escaping the conflict. Below is a list of relief organizations that our members and staff are supporting. As this situation develops further, ULI will be seeking ways to mobilize its staff and members to provide the assistance that is needed, and will provide additional details as appropriate.
List of organizations that our members and staff are supporting:
World Central Kitchen – Founded by José Andrés, WCK is one of the first organizations to the frontlines, providing meals in response to humanitarian, climate, and community crises.
Movement On The Ground – Motivated to bring change to the humanitarian field, Movement On The Ground’s mission is dignify refugee reception across the globe.
Global Giving – GlobalGiving has been responding to disasters and supporting emergency aid and long-term relief programs since 2004, facilitating more than $100M in disaster donations.
