On 22 January, ULI Sweden members enjoyed an exclusive tour of the urban regeneration project Telefonplan. The tour began in the exhibition space where they studied the architectural model of the master plan. Milad from White Architects and Maria from ALM explained the project from the architects’ and developers’ points of view, emphasising the common goal of adding value to the city and developing ideas together with the city of Stockholm’s planning offices.
Attendees then visited “The Brick”, an old office building that will be converted into apartments for young creatives. This part of the tour included a viewing of a mock apartment that had been built to test noise levels and daylight. The group discussed the local effects of the transformation, from the cultural aspects and the long term economic growth of the area – which relates to greater Stockholm walkable city plans – to the effect of increased density on public spaces, infrastructure, traffic flows, public transport and parking in the area.
