Stanhope hosted an intimate gathering of the ULI’s Young Leaders Group on the 26th of February for an engaging discussion on the learnings and successes from Ellen Brunsberg’s career.
Ellen was introduced by Mark Ridley, an Executive at Stanhope, who opened the Lunch & Learn session with a brief overview of the transformational mixed-use development activity that Stanhope is driving across London. Ellen then steered the conversation through a lively exposition of the highlights and challenges of her 17 years in investment banking at Morgan Stanley and the changes that led to her current position at GE Capital where she manages the UK Real Estate group and is also the Leader for Capital Markets in Europe.
Attendees quickly joined in the discussion that covered a wide range of topics including personal management styles, implementing corporate transformations and considerations for making career changes.
Ellen was refreshingly frank in her approach and described how she survived investment bank redundancies in the late 80’s, moved between careers across continents and arrived at her current post running the UK real estate investment arm for one of the world’s most iconic industrial conglomerates. Ellen Brunsberg clearly has more than a few good stories and life lessons to share with London’s emerging real estate professionals. Ellen’s energy, optimism and enthusiasm were palpable, leaving the Young Leaders excited and motivated for what may come next in their careers.
