The Urban Land Institute is a global non-profit education and research institute supported by its members. Its mission is to provide leadership in the responsible use of land and in creating and sustaining thriving communities worldwide. Established in 1936, the Institute has almost 40,000 members in 82 countries representing all aspects of land use and development disciplines.
ULI has been active in Europe since the early 1990s and today we have over 2,600 members across 27 different countries. ULI Europe has a particularly strong presence in the major European real estate markets of the UK, Germany, France and the Netherlands but is also active in emerging markets such as Turkey and Poland.
A message from John Banka, ULI Poland Chair
ULI Poland was established with three objectives in mind:
- to raise consciousness regarding important issues impacting the growth, vitality and competitiveness of Polish cities, to become the “think tank” for urban development and investment issues in Poland;
- to serve as a professional forum for all participants in the Polish real estate development & investment community, both private and public;
- to learn and benefit from best practices in urban development by networking and interacting with other ULI councils in Europe and internationally.
We have been working towards achieving the above goals by organizing meetings, conferences and workshops for the past three years—including our first annual “Competitive Cities” conference in Warsaw in 2015. These events have served to demonstrate ULI’s deep pool of resources and capabilities and, to attract new members.
It is rewarding and encouraging to observe that ULI is starting to have an impact in Poland. Our events are widely commented as being “needed”, “unique” and of “high quality”, and we hope in time to expand our activity to include a Young Leaders programme.
The Urban Land Institute has grown to become a respected thought leader only because of the initiative, support and contribution of its members. If you would like to share your ideas and energies with ULI, we invite you to become a member. Please send me an e-mail for more information.
