The Urban Land Institute (ULI) Europe has appointed Bas Jochims, Fund Manager at Bouwinvest Real Estate Investors, as the next chair of the ULI Netherlands National Council. He will serve on a voluntary basis for the next two years, commencing 1 December 2025.

He succeeds Boudewijn Ruitenburg, Chief Operations Officer, EDGE following the successful completion of his two-year term as chair.
ULI is a global, non-profit education and research institute supported by its members. Its mission is to shape the future of the built environment for transformative impact in communities worldwide.
Jochims has been a member of ULI since 2018 and is also currently a member of ULI Europe’s Office and Mixed-Use Product Council, a thought leadership peer group dedicated to this sector of real estate, which he co-chaired between 2021-2024. He brings more than 25 years’ leadership experience working in the real estate sector to the role.
Acting as the Fund Manager of Dutch Office & Hotel Investments at Bouwinvest Real Estate Investors, a leading institutional real estate investment manager focused on long-term value creation, Jochims is responsible for overall fund management, encompassing both financial and non-financial performance aspects. Prior to this, he was responsible for asset performance as a Director of Dutch Office & Hotel Investments, and he began at Bouwinvest as an Asset Manager in 2005.
He commenced his real estate career as an account manager at Dynamis ABC Commercial Real Estate, where he was responsible for property management projects in the Amsterdam and The Hague regions.
Boudewijn Ruitenburg comments, “I am thrilled that, in Bas, we have found a chair who is an active and committed ULI member with extensive experience in the real estate sector. I am confident that he will successfully lead ULI in the Netherlands.”
Bas Jochims comments, “I am very pleased to have been appointed the next Chair of ULI Netherlands. ULI is well recognised as an exemplar for knowledge sharing and best practice in real estate, offering inspiration and a platform for experts from across the industry to come together to find the best responses to the most pressing challenges in the built environment.”
“Drawing on insights gained from working closely with institutional investors and public and private stakeholders in the Dutch real estate market, my vision for the national council is to continue to leverage ULI’s pan European and global network to ensure we keep up to date with current international and local developments in the real estate market through the collective expertise of our members. Another priority will be to address specific topics relevant to the Netherlands market, whether in finance, politics, or the nitrogen emissions crisis. Beyond that, I intend to strengthen and broaden the network in a coherent way and help to reduce the silo mentality in the industry by encouraging collaboration and knowledge sharing and take an inclusive approach to collaboration and have a focus on resilience, sustainability and social equity, building on the great legacy left by Boudewijn.”
Lisette van Doorn, CEO, ULI Europe, concludes, “On behalf of ULI Europe I would like to thank our outgoing chair Boudewijn Ruitenburg for his hard work and great contribution to the success of ULI in the Netherlands over the last two years. During his tenure, the organisation experienced great engagement from our members across the range of events and other activities that ULI organises in the Netherlands.”
“And a very warm welcome to Bas, who is a highly experienced and prominent real estate leader in the Netherlands, and an active member of ULI. His commitment to ULI, his focus on the challenges facing real estate in the Netherlands and across Europe, and his ambitions to broadening and expanding our membership and the activities we deliver is very encouraging, and we all look forward to working with him and the executive committee to provide value to our members and further grow our membership and knowledge base.”
