    Nearly 40% of global carbon dioxide emissions come from the real estate sector. What are the best solution to change it? What are the latest trends in the world of construction? What are the challenges we have to face?

    First, we will learn about the findings of the latest Deloitte report that will be presented by MISHA NIKULIN, Managing Director of Deloitte Consulting in his talk - THE FUTURE OF CONSTRUCTION: 2023 INDUSTRY OUTLOOK OVERVIEW.

    Then, we will go deeper into two of the most interesting trends in the construction industry in recent years, which are the rise of modular construction and the rise of cross-laminated timber.

    MARCO HUTER, Managing Director of KLH Massivholz GmbH, the pioneer in Cross-Laminated Timber, in the presentation on HOW BUILDING WITH PREFABRICATED CLT ELEMENTS CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE will talk the history of timber construction and how today’s trends influence the use of Engineered timber in construction.

    PRZEMYSŁAW BOREK, President of the Board of Pekabex Bet S.A. will talk about modern prefabrication and its advantages including environmental aspects, carbon footprint and circular economy in the presentation: CONSTRUCTING CITIES: MODERN TECHNOLOGIES.

    Presentations will be followed by a discussion and Q&A session moderated by JOHN BANKA, Senior Director of ARC Capital Markets and also joined by KATARZYNA CHWALBIŃSKA-KUSEK, Head of ESG & Sustainability at Savills Poland and SZYMON WOJCIECHOWSKI, President of the Board of APA Wojciechowski.

    Szymon Wojciechowski

    President of the Board, APA Wojciechowski

    Szymon Wojciechowski is an architect with over thirty years of experience, a graduate of the Faculty of Architecture of the Warsaw Univeristy of Technology (Poland) and the University of Detroit (USA), a member of the Mazovian District Chamber of Architects. From 1982 he has been associated with APA Wojciechowski – currently APA Wojciechowski sp. z o.o., in which he is the President of the Management Board, Co-Owner, Architect-Partner. Many years of experience combined with a passion for creating beautiful shapes allows him to design unique buildings with high functionality. Author or co-author of many well-known architectural projects, including UNIT.City in Kyiv (Ukraine), Lviv.Tech.City in Lviv (Ukraine), Elektrownia Powiśle, Skyliner, The Park Warsaw, Latarnia (Port Praski), Galeria Północna in Warsaw (Poland), Riverview, Officyna and Alchemia in Gdańsk (Poland), Business Garden Wrocław and Centrum Południe in Wrocław (Poland), Nova Silesia in Katowice (Poland) and The Park Kraków (Poland). Winner of many awards, including ‘Leadership of the Year’ – CIJ Awards 2019 and CIJ Awards 2021; ‘Architect of the year - Business Center Class A’ - Commercial Real Estate Moscow Awards 2010; ‘Architect of the year 2009’ - CEE Real Estate Quality Awards in cooperation with the Financial Times.

    Przemyslaw Borek

    President of the Board, Pekabex Bet Sp. z o.o.

    Graduate of the Gdansk University of Technology, Civil Engineering Department in 1995, gained his M. Sc. degree in Building and Engineering Structures. Between 1995-2002 Mr. Przemysław Borek worked as an assistant at the Gdansk University of Technology, Steel Structures Department, and prepared many technical articles and expert’s opinions. He has also participated in an independent project of a water storage tank construction of 75,000 m3 volume, realized in Belarus. In 1996 he finished pedagogical postgraduate studies at the Gdansk University of Technology, Management and Economy Department. Since 1999 Mr. Przemysław Borek holds an unrestricted construction license authorizing him to design. He was using his practical skills of designing and analysis of steel and reinforced concrete structures while managing his own design office ARC Projekt. Since 2002 he has worked as a project manager in Ergon Poland LLC company, then in years 2003-2007 as a trade director, building the structures and market position of new Polish Ergon branch from a scratch. The 12-month turnover has increased from 7 to 114 million PLN in that period. Since 2008 he has been associated with the Pekabex Group as the President of the Board and Vice-President of the Board of Pekabex S.A. since 2015.

    Misha Nikulin

    Managing Director, Deloitte Consulting

    Misha is a Managing Director in the Engineering & Construction practice focusing on Technology Strategy, Data & Analytics, Emerging Technology, and Innovation. He helps clients by leveraging his 21 years of Engineering, Procurement, Construction (EPC) experience, including projects, business units, and enterprise-level leadership roles, delivering intrapreneurial innovation programs and strategic digital transformative technology initiatives at large industrial scale.

    Marco Huter

    Managing Director, KLH

    After completing studies, he worked in the FMCG business for international groups (Unilever, Johnson & Johnson). Further his career led him into various industrial management positions (MD) with a focus on marketing and sales. Since 2016 he has been Manging Director of KLH® Massivholz in Austria, the pioneer in CLT production and a global market leading company in the CLT industry.

    John Banka

    Senior Director, ARC Capital Markets

    John Banka is a commercial real estate professional with over 25 years of advisory and transactional experience in the Polish and central European markets—initially with Golub, and later joining Ernst & Young’s real estate consulting team and then Colliers International where he established the firm’s investment practice in Poland and became an equity partner. Prior to joining ARC, John established and managed an independent advisory practice providing project development, financing, investment advisory and leasing strategies for clients throughout central and eastern Europe. Earlier in his career, John worked as an economic development official—first, with the City of Chicago and subsequently, the New York City Public Development Corporation, with responsibility for coordinating significant commercial and industrial investments in both cities, including projects of the Chicago Board Options Exchange, Amgen and Columbia University. John earned a B.A. with honors in Urban Studies at Furman University, a master’s degree in Urban Planning & Policy at the University of Illinois-Chicago and an MBA from Northwestern University. He has also completed a Harvard University Graduate School of Design course in urban retail strategy. John led the efforts to establish Urban Land Institute Poland and served as its first chairman.

    Katarzyna Chwalbinska-Kusek

    Head of ESG & Sustainability, Savills Sp. z o.o.

    Seasoned ESG & Sustainability leader and board level advisor. Katarzyna has over 15 years of experience in real estate and construction sector. Experienced in leading multi-functional and international teams of experts. Credited with strategic business development and marketing skills (Chartered marketer). Since 2008 has been actively involved in delivery of sustainability, energy efficiency, green building standards, and health and wellbeing in buildings for which cooperated with top international organisations. She is highly skilled in international non-financial reporting frameworks (GRI certified) and sustainable development goals (SDGs) included in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
