ULI Poland's PLACES + SPACES series is a year-long series of events focused on issues that impact you and your city!

On 8 September 2022 we invite you to another event in the series with the leading theme:

THE FUTURE OF BULDINGS – How can we adopt a circular economy to real estate?

What is a circular economy? Quoting after the European Parliament it is a model of production and consumption, which involves sharing, leasing, reusing, repairing, refurbishing and recycling existing materials and products as long as possible. In this way, the life cycle of products is extended.

A circular economy could reduce global CO2 emissions from building materials by 38% in 2050. How to design and build without waste, recycle materials and limit resource usage. We'll talk about material passports, urban mining, circular design models and see many interesting case studies.

HANS HAMMINK, an architect, associate and circularity lead at de Architekten Cie. will give a lecture on 'Lessons In Circularity'. Hans Hammink designed the unique Circl Pavilion, the first constructed practical example of circular architecture in the Netherlands. He is also one of the creators of the Building Passport.

IVAN ACOSTA and BARTOSZ MARCOL, Senior Sustainability Consultants at Arup will do a presentation on Implementing Circular Economy Principles In Building Design and present Circular Buildings Toolkit developed by Arup and Ellen MacArthur Foundation.

Presentations will be followed by a panel discussion moderated by MONIKA DĘBSKA-PASTAKIA, CEO of Padmo Group. The discussion will also be joined by ELŻBIETA ROTBLUM, Sustainability Expert at Skanska and MARCIN JUSZCZYK, Member of the Management Board, CFO/CIO at Capital Park Group.
