Future Fit: Regenerating our Town and City Centres

For decades the collective wisdom was that enticing bigger and better retail stores to anchor our urban centres was the only way to ensure the continued attractiveness and economic success of places.

In an era of now seismic changes in the retail market and a rapidly changing retail landscape, how can policy makers and businesses alike get ahead of the curve and ensure, or in some cases restore, the vitality and viability of our town and city centres?

Guest speakers Peter Denton, Chief Executive of the UK Government’s housing and regeneration agency Homes England; and Ibrahim Ibrahim, one of the world’s foremost retail futurists and Board Member of the High Streets Task Force join ULI Members to debate what’s required to convert challenges into opportunities in the rapidly changing world of the high street, and explore how places and spaces can be reshaped to adapt to a dynamic retail market place fuelled by seemingly ever-changing consumer demands and expectations.

Sara Boonham, ULI UK Midlands Executive Committee Member, and National Lead for Town & City Centre Regeneration at Gleeds, will chair the session.

The event will be followed at 6:30pm by a drinks reception and networking opportunity, kindly sponsored by The West Midlands Growth Company.

ULI UK would again like to kindly thank our sponsors for this event, Mott MacDonald and The West Midlands Growth Company.
