Impact of Geopolitics on Real Estate Here to Stay, Ex-European Commission President Tells ULI
Urban Land Magazine reports from Europe Conference and José Manuel Barroso's keynote on the impact of geopolitics on modern real estate.
WASHINGTON (July 11, 2024) — More than 60 distinguished real estate industry leaders have joined or been reappointed to the Urban Land Institute’s (ULI) governing bodies, including incoming regional chairs Kristina Raspe (Americas), Scott Dunn (Asia Pacific), and Anne Kavanagh (Europe). The new and reappointed members of the Global Board of Directors, Global Governing Trustees, and regional executive committees are serving terms that began July 1.
“ULI is its members, and these dedicated and engaged member leaders will play a vital role in advancing our shared mission,” said Diane Hoskins, ULI Global Chair. “I’m excited to welcome ULI’s incoming regional chairs and all the new and reappointed leaders whose expertise, passion, and diverse perspectives will represent our global membership effectively. Together we will ensure ULI continues to be where real estate professionals turn to form connections, exchange insights, anticipate industry trends, and drive meaningful impact in communities worldwide.”
“It is an honor to be named chair of the Americas Executive Committee at this critical moment for our industry and the communities we serve,” said Kristina Raspe, Chair, ULI Americas. “I’m grateful to my amazing predecessor, Clare De Briere, for her work to enhance member engagement and advance the ULI mission. I’m eager to work with incoming ULI Global CEO Angela Cain, our network of district councils across the Americas, and the entire ULI team to ensure the Institute continues to grow, deliver value to our members, and create lasting impact.”
“I’m honoured to serve as the Asia Pacific Chair and excited to work with industry leaders that have shaped the built environment of our region,” said Scott Dunn, Chair, ULI Asia Pacific. “With a global, interdisciplinary network of over 3,000 members across the region, Asia Pacific is uniquely positioned to drive growth, share best practices and create meaningful connections across our communities. Building upon the excellent work of my predecessor, Khoo Teng Chye, I look forward to collaborating with ULI members to address some of our communities’ most pressing challenges, while also tapping into the unparallelled potential of the 4.3 billion of population that call our region home.”
“I am both excited and honoured to undertake the role of ULI Europe Chair and humbled to follow in the footsteps of my predecessor Lars Huber, who has made a significant contribution in Europe and has left a great legacy,” said Anne Kavanagh, Chair, ULI Europe. “I am also looking forward to collaborating with ULI Europe CEO Lisette van Doorn and the wider team in contributing to the delivery of our mission, and to working closely with our members who are making significant and transformative contributions to navigate our industry’s challenges for the benefit of the communities we work with.”
The Global Board of Directors, which is ULI’s principal governing body, provides strategic direction in conjunction with the executive committees for the Americas, Asia Pacific, and Europe. The board will continue to guide ULI’s work connecting a global network of interdisciplinary real estate professionals, sharing knowledge and expertise to solve land use challenges, and advancing ULI’s mission to shape the future of the built environment for transformative impact in communities worldwide.
