On 27 January, ULI Belgium members gathered for a round table on how to improve mobility to and in Brussels. The debate was introduced by Pascal Smet, Regional Minister for Mobility and Public Works. Smet had already announced important and specific decisions, including demolition of the Reyers viaduct, redeveloping the Meiser-Lambermont axis, creating a Skytrain connecting the North Station, Tour & Taxis and Neo sites and giving up covering the Boulevard de Waterloo that should link the Pentagon and the Toison d’Or area.
The Minister talked about his overall projects to improve mobility in and around Brussels while respecting a rigorous budget. In the field of public transport, the topics were the joint implementation of the STIB extensions to the periphery, the De Lijn lines to the centre, a better link to the Central Station within the tram network.
