ULI U.K. UrbanPlan Annual Celebratory Event
On Monday 15 July, the fourth annual UrbanPlan celebratory event took place at City Hall, London. The event brought together the winning teams of students from 20 different schools as well as guest speaker, David Kong, partner and architect at Foster+Partners. Kong was involved in the design of City Hall and presented to the students the methods and logic behind the design and construction of both City Hall and More Place. Other guest speakers included ULI’s very own Elizabeth Rappoport, director of content, and Chris Choa, past ULI U.K. Chair and vice president, AECOM.

ULI Europe NEXT Chair Appointed
Galyna Permyakova, associate director real estate development at PATRIZIA based in Amsterdam, has been appointed as chair of the ULI NEXT group in Europe, which specifically engages and supports members aged 35-45. Galyna succeeds Thomas Poulis-Leinberger, who chaired the European NEXT Group for the last two years. Galyna officially began her term on 1 July 2019 and will serve on a voluntary basis until 30 June 2021.

ULI Europe Leadership Retreat 2019
The annual ULI Europe Leadership Retreat takes place in Lisbon on 26-28 September. Top real estate leaders will gather, with their partners, to experience the culture and history of the host city and will hear from outstanding speakers such as the Mayor of Lisbon, Fernando Medina, the Portuguese Minister of the Economy, Pedro Siza Vieira, the former NASA astronaut, Jeffrey A. Hoffman, and many others. The event is an opportunity to explore big picture issues and share ideas on thought-provoking themes in a relaxing setting. New ULI Advisory Services Workshop Report: Haven-Stad, Amsterdam
In February 2019, the City of Amsterdam invited ULI to convene a three-day Advisory Services Workshop in Haven-Stad. ULI has produced an extensive report on the regeneration of Haven-Stad in Amsterdam. The report addreses the plan to transform 650 hectares of existing docklands into one of the largest inner-city mixed-use residential districts in Europe.

ULI U.K. Wellbeing Report
Landmark research from the ULI says that the wave of interest in wellbeing in the U.K. is expected to translate into significant investment over the next three years. The research forms part of a report,
Picture of health: the growing role of wellbeing in commercial real estate investment decision-making, that was released at
an event in Birmingham on 11 July by the ULI U.K. Sustainability Forum to highlight the rise of wellbeing investment in commercial buildings. It is the first time that a comprehensive survey of leading property experts has been carried out to understand how health and wellbeing is influencing investment decisions across the real estate industry.

ULI Germany NEXT Meets…
ULI Germany has launched a new series of events “ULI NEXT meets…” for members aged 35–45, providing the opportunity for NEXT members to meet senior leaders from the public sector. The aim of this new format is to create a personal atmosphere, which allows the attendees not only to address business and urban development issues, but also personal topics, such as the compatibility of family and career. For the first meeting on 4 July, ULI Germany NEXT members met top urbanist, Mike Josef (city councillor for the City of Frankfurt).

ULI Europe Young Leaders Summer School 2019
Register now for the ULI Europe Young Leader Summer School and join us in Lisbon on the 27-28 September. New speakers have been announced and a draft programme has been released. The event will pull together speakers from different disciplines to share their thoughts on real estate economics and long term urban investment with our Young Leaders (under 35 year olds). Main topics will include market evolution, proptech, affordability and entrepreneurship and small scale development.
