ULI Germany announced the winners of the prestigious ULI Leadership Awards at an evening ceremony in Berlin on 28th November 2013.
The awards were judged by a panel of industry leaders, chaired by Gerhard L. Dunstheimer, Deputy CEO of ECE Project Management GmbH & Co. KG. The judges praised leading personalities from the public and private sectors for their outstanding entrepreneurship and forward thinking initiatives in the areas of real estate and urban development.
The ULI Leadership Awards have been presented annually since 2005 and past winners include: Lord Foster of Foster & Partners, Petra Roth former Mayor of Frankfurt, and Alexander Otto of ECE Projektmanagement.
The winners of this year’s ULI Leadership Awards are:
- City / Public Administration Award: Michael Sachs, State Councillor for Urban Development of the Ministry of Urban Development and Environment, Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg
- Real Estate Industry Award: Dieter Müller, Managing Director, Motel One Group
- Young Leader Award: Alexander Knälmann and Hendrik von Paepke, Managing Director, APOprojekt GmbH
- Lifetime Achievement Award: Prof. Dr. H.C. Meinhard von Gerkan, Managing Director gmp Architekten
The awards ceremony took place as part of ULI Germany’s Urban Leader Forum, which was chaired by Regula Lüscher, Head of Planning, Berlin Senate. The Forum brought together representatives from the public and private sectors to examine a range of issues on sustainable urban development. The Forum also included a range of workshops and site tours to the districts of Neukölln, Kreuzberg and Tempelhof Schöneberg.
