An agreement was reached on the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD) in recent months – a piece of legislation that will be a blueprint for decarbonising buildings. The new laws, when enforced, will chart a course for the EU to achieve a climate neutral building stock by 2050, by setting Minimum Energy Performance Standards (MEPS) for Europe’s worst performing buildings.

The MEP with responsibility for implementing the EPBD is Irishman Ciarán Cuffe who has kindly agreed to speak to us about the new legislation and all things ESG at a breakfast on the morning of 16 February 2024.

We will also be joined on the day by a panel of local sustainability experts. If you are interested in ESG and sustainability as it relates to the built environment, this is a must- attend event in the ULI Ireland calendar.

Ciarán will be joined in the session by Neil Menzies, Head of Sustainability at Hibernia; Rachael McGinley, Head of Sustainability at CBRE; Shane Caldwell, Head of Sustainability at IPUT; and Marta Testagrossa, Senior Director at FTI Consulting.
