We’re introducing season 2 of ULI’s New Real Estate Vanguard podcast series, ‘Build and Disrupt’, hosted by Robin Marriott from Property EU. Our first episode introduces Ross Bailey, Founder of Appear Here (UK). Ross discusses his radical business idea of an online marketplace for retailers and pop-up shops, changing the way we think about conventional retail spaces.
Our second episode introduces Raphael Scheps, Co-Founder and CEO of Converge (UK). Raphael discusses how his company utilises data from sensors embedded in concrete to gain insight into optimising the carbon content of concrete, a critical centre-point of the construction process.
The third episode in the series introduces Katherine Beisler, Head of ESG Consulting, Hollis (The Netherlands), as she delves into all things ESG – the rising prominence of ESG across the real estate and built environment sectors, how Katherine herself ended up interested in it, as well as what others can do to learn more about and perhaps break into the world of ESG.
Our fourth episode introduces Nicolas Pörschke, Founder & CEO, Dropp (Germany), as he discusses his company’s solution to quick, efficient and sustainable same-day delivery. He explains how Dropp’s platform combines physical infrastructure with tech-driven insights to bring transparency and organisation to the ecommerce space, reflecting on its wider implications as well as on what he sees as the future for so-called last mile logistics.
The fifth episode in the series introduces Christian Fladeland, Chief Investment Officer, Heimstaden (Denmark), as he offers his insights and expertise into the cutting edge of equity transactions across pan-European residential property markets.

She discusses the role of technology in bringing more people into the conversation around change, and the importance of hearing from more people around what change means for them and how we can use this insight to inform and de-risk development.
Our seventh episode introduces Lieske Van Pelt, Director, CBRE Investment Management (Netherlands). She discusses the ins and outs of urban and mixed-use development, excelling on the operator as well as on the investor side, and the importance of understanding what drives and matters to end users in order to fully service their needs.
The eighth episode in the series introduces Laura Denenga, Vice President, European Debt Origination, PGIM Real Estate (UK). She discusses her youth in Zimbabwe, how it propelled her into her current role and stimulated her concern for sustainability, as well as what the next generation of professionals can do to verse themselves in the diverse world of real estate.
The ninth episode introduces William Polisano, Co-Founder & CEO, Drum London (UK), in place of Theodora Beckett (UK). He begins by discussing his background and involvement in various placemaking projects, including 22 Bishopsgate. He then delves into the proposition and challenges behind Drum London, an initiative William and Theodora started together to provide high-quality affordable temporary housing for homeless Londoners.
The tenth and final episode in the series introduces Achille Bourdon, Co-Founder, Syvil Architects (France). He discusses the features and challenges of the productive city: logistics, invisible workers, social and environmental impacts and much more!
