The ULI Charitable Trust (the Trust) supports the charitable mission of the Urban Land Institute in Europe: shaping the future of the built environment for transformative impact in communities worldwide.

 Through the Trust, we raise funds to advance three key priorities:
  1. Mobilising real estate to decarbonise towards net zero and protect our planet
  2. Increasing housing attainability and affordability while tackling climate change
  3. Educating the next generation of diverse leaders

Current Fundraising Priorities

UrbanPlan – Inspiring Future Leaders

UrbanPlan is ULI Europe’s flagship educational initiative, designed to help young people understand how real estate can contribute to the revitalisation of urban areas. Delivered through immersive workshops and team challenges, UrbanPlan brings city-building to life for secondary school pupils and university students.
Now in its eleventh year in Europe, UrbanPlan has:
  • Reached over 14,900 students
  • Enabled more than 1,800 ULI members to volunteer and share their expertise
  • Expanded across the UK, Germany, Ireland, France, Switzerland and the Netherlands, with growing interest from Spain, Poland, and Italy

Future plans include designing pathways for students to transition to the real estate sector through internships and work experience. Invest in the leaders of the future and partner with us.

C Change for Housing – Scaling Solutions

The Trust is proud to support ULI Europe’s C Change for Housing, a programme that brings together the housing and climate agendas to accelerate the delivery of affordable, decarbonised homes across the region. With support from the Laudes Foundation, the programme is mobilising cross-sector collaboration to map systemic barriers holding back progress, identify interventions to unlock change, and incubate scalable solutions.

With additional funding, it will deliver a series of local workshops in the UK, Spain, and Germany to test ideas in real-world contexts and guide the development of replicable decarbonisation strategies for affordable housing, supported by ULI’s Advisory Services.

C Change

ULI Europe’s flagship C Change programme unites professionals across the real estate industry to accelerate decarbonisation through collaboration, research, and practical solutions. The programme identifies key intervention points where the industry can drive systemic change and develops the tools and support needed to turn ambition into action.
C Change is prioritising the following interrelated workstreams:
  • Scaling Preserve – an open-access transition risk assessment tool helping owners and investors understand how decarbonisation affects asset value and investment strategies.
  • Improving owner–occupier alignment – developing case studies, best practice guides, and solutions to overcome challenges in decarbonising occupied buildings.
  • Expanding carbon pricing adoption – producing case studies and guidance to help organisations implement internal carbon pricing, building on ULI’s Universal Principles for Carbon Pricing in Real Estate.
  • Strengthening the investment voice – fostering collaboration between investors, managers, and associations to align decarbonisation priorities, reduce fragmentation, and amplify collective impact.

Supporting C Change will enable the most pressing barriers preventing real estate from decarbonising at the pace and scale required to be tackled.
