On 28 November, ULI Belgium and ULI Netherlands held an event on how Belgian and Dutch cities can collaborate to be competitive on a global scale. The event was part of the official programme of the State Visit of their Majesties the King Philippe and Queen Mathilde of Belgium to the Netherlands.
During the event, public and private sector specialists from the Netherlands, Belgium and across Europe exchanged best practices and inspiring ideas that demonstrated how innovation, densification, infrastructure, and social inclusion can make cities more competitive.
Speakers included Kajsa Ollongren, Deputy Mayor of Amsterdam; Chris Choa, Director of Cities and Urban Development, AECOM; Ian Mulcahey, Managing Director, Gensler; Carolien Gehrels, Head of the Big Urban Client Programme, Arcadis; Prof. Dr Pieter Ballon, Director-imec SMIT, Vrjie Universiteit Brussel; Peter Savelberg, Managing Director, TristateCity; Pieter De Crem, Belgian Secretary of State for Foreign Trade; and Rudi Vervoort, Minister-President of the Brussels Capital Region.
