Industry leaders to focus on Office & Mixed-use, Sustainability, Technology, Affordable Living and Logistics
The Urban Land Institute (ULI) has appointed six distinguished real estate industry leaders as the new Co-Chairs of several of its European Product Councils. All will serve on a voluntary basis for a two-year term, with most commencing 1 July.
ULI Product Councils play a key role in ULI’s mission to shape the future of the built environment for transformative impact in communities worldwide. They are international forums for industry leaders to meet, exchange ideas, share best practices and foster thought leadership in their specific sector of the real estate market. The Councils debate topical issues and discuss industry trends in a confidential and collaborative environment.
The new European Product Council appointments include:
• Honoré Achille Simo from JLL has been appointed Co-Chair of the European Office & Mixed-Use Council and succeeds Bas Jochims of Bouwinvest Real Estate Investors. He was appointed 1 July 2024. Achille has been a member of ULI since 2014 and is a Co-Chair of ULI’s Sustainability Product Council in Germany. The Office & Mixed-Use Council brings together European industry leaders to focus on the constantly evolving office sector and the changes required from buildings as we move towards sustainable mixed-use communities.
• Marvie Haas from Catella Residential Investment Management has been appointed Co-Chair of the European Sustainability Council, succeeding Elsa Monteiro from Sonae Sierra, Portugal. Marvie was appointed 1 July 2024 and has been a member of ULI since 2023. The Sustainability Council convenes leaders from across Europe to debate and explore best practices in sustainable development, such as new ways to measure environmental performance or the social contribution made by buildings, through to the longer terms planning considerations of European cities.
• Adam Burstow from Amazon Web Services has been appointed Co-Chair of the European Technology & Real Estate Council and succeeds Ronen Journo from Hines Europe. He was appointed 1 July 2024. An urbanist and technologist, Adam has been a member of ULI since 2016 and was previously Co-Chair of ULI’s Innovation Product Council in the UK. The Technology & Real Estate Council focuses on how technology and innovation in real estate and urban development can enhance citizen experience and quality of life, contribute to sustainability goals, and improve the operational efficiency of buildings and places.
• Francisco Rocha Antunes from MOME has been appointed Co-Chair of the European Affordable Living Council, succeeding Nicolas Bearelle, Re-Vive. He was appointed in June 2024 and joins Hilke Nijmeijer of CBRE Investment Management Europe. Francisco has been a member of ULI since 2002 and was previously Chair of the ULI Portugal National Council until July 2024. The Affordable Living Council mission focuses on the creation, expansion and retention of high quality and sustainable affordable housing in our European cities as a key success factor for vibrant, dynamic, inclusive and economically successful cities.
• Marco Fok from Pure Data Centres Group and Oscar Duclert of Braxton Iberia were both appointed Co-Chairs of the European Logistics Council in March 2024, joining Thomas Poulis-Leinberger of AEW Invest. Marco has been a member of ULI since 2015 and was previously the Head of Portfolio Management for Mileway. Oscar has been a member of ULI since 2016 and was previously the Deputy Head of Logistics at Pimco Prime Real Estate. The Logistics Council’s mission is to share and explore best practices and innovative solutions for logistics in European real estate, sharing knowledge and experience across topics including sustainability, innovation, technology, automation and access to land.
Anne Kavanagh, ULI Europe Chair, comments: “The important role that our members play in driving the activities of our European Product Councils is invaluable in furthering our mission commitments. Product Councils provide collaborative forums for sharing knowledge, best practice, and thought leadership concerning many challenging and often urgent issues impacting specific sectors of the built environment.”
“We are fortunate to have some very talented people active in our Product Councils across Europe, and I’d like to extend a warm welcome to all of our new Co-Chairs, and I look forward to their leadership as they further this important mission.”
ULI Europe currently has 11 Product Councils:
